What is the difference between a Chapter 7 and a Chapter 13 bankruptcy petition?

To the paralegal or virtual assistant who is focused on preparing the bankruptcy petition, the Forms and Schedules are basically the same in a Chapter 7 as they are in a Chapter 13. Now we have came to the “meat” of the Chapter 13 bankruptcy petition. So let’s get started.

1. Double click on the Chapter 13 Plan form within Best Case.

2. Remove the $5,000 lump sum payment. Our attorney has informed us that the debtor(s) were expecting to sell the Lincoln for $5,000 and put it toward their bankruptcy, but since they decided to give up the Cadillac, they no longer have the $5,000 available to give to the court.

3. Go back to the first box (just above the lump sum payment section) and type a question mark (?). Click on the “Calculate” button.

You will receive an error message. The message is telling you that the payment for the Wells Fargo mortgage is too low to substantiate a 6.89 percentage rate.

The AVBA (Accredited Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant Exam) was originally developed in June 2006 and cost $495 to take the test. This fee was necessary at the time because it was taking us between 4-6 hours to complete the grading process. But as more AVBA Exams were submitted we had to find a way to simplify the process. We have found a solution by restructuring the AVBA Exam by developing a totally new one that measures your skills in a wider variety of areas. The new exam also reduces the grading time down to only 1 hour and the savings are passed on to you. Instead of paying $495 for the AVBA Exam, the fee is now only $75.

How is the New AVBA Exam structured?

There are 10 Sections that make up the AVBA Exam. In each section you can earn up to 100 points for a total of 1,000 points. You must earn a point score of 750 to pass the AVBA Exam. You also have the opportunity to earn 500 bonus points by following all the detailed instructions, earning you the ability to achieve a perfect score of 1,500 points.
