Chapter 13 Seminar Report

On October 27, 2007, the Chapter 13 Training Seminar was held in Grove City, Ohio (a suburb of Columbus.) The group was small, but this was a plus because everyone received personalized attention.

The seminar actually began when I picked everyone up at the hotel and took them to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Then we drove to Donatoes Restaurant to begin the seminar in the meeting room.

Every time I give a seminar, I am always impressed by the people who attend – and this group was no different. John had worked as a scientist and his mind worked in a highly detailed manner. This type of mind is excellent for the bankruptcy field because he can logically understand the basis of the law and relate it to real life.

Sharon, another one of the attendees, had worked several years in Washington D.C. in the political arena. I was fortunate enough to be able to sit down and talk with her for over 2 hours when the seminar was over. Sharon is a brilliant woman and everything she talks about is so interesting. In fact, Sharon and I were able to discuss Jesus Christ and share our faith, which is something I don’t get to do everyday. I thoroughly enjoyed talking with Sharon and I thank her for attending the seminar.

Terry McNeal, who also attended is a Board Member of the NAVBA. She has a vast amount of experience in real estate and she also is a brilliant lady with a great deal of knowledge that I enjoyed spending the day with.

From an instructor’s standpoint, I will have to say that this was one of the best seminars I have ever had. And I owe all the credit to John, Sharon and Terry who made this happen. I know that all three of them will do a fantastic job working in Chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy. In fact, Sharon is going to apply for work through the Bar Association Placement Service so she can actually work inside a law firm and learn the field from this perspective.

THE SEMINAR MATERIAL

The Chapter 13 training seminar material came from the new book I am writing: “An Introduction to the Chapter 13 Plan.” This book will be an 8.5 x 11 size (like a standard sheet of paper) and include a training CD inside.

The material in the book walks you though downloading the Test File so that you have a bankruptcy petition to start with. Next, we work through a series of skill-building techniques in order to understand debt classifications and the correct calculation of monthly payments.

Because John, Sharon and Terry brought their laptops with them, they were able to work hands-on while the material was being presented. Everyone loved this method of training because they could ask questions and obtain personalized attention as we went along.

Finally, at the end of the day, we had worked through all the error messages on the Chapter 13 plan, gave the debtor(s) a payment they could easily afford with a 94% payout to the unsecured creditors. This petition was an example of a good Chapter 13 Plan that is balanced and fair for all parties. And you will get to experience the same materials when my new book and CD are released on November 1, 2007.

ONLINE TRAINING –VS – SEMINARS

During the seminar I asked for John, Sharon and Terry’s feedback about conducting seminars online to save people travel expenses. But we came up with two significant problems online training seminars create:

1. Most people are unable to sit at a computer for longer than 2 hours in order to attend an online training class. Seminars, where you can physically interact with others and learn hands-on from a training instructor, cannot be duplicated over the internet.

2. The software to conduct online training is still in its infancy. For example: most online training software requires everyone to download a plug-in before they can attend. Attendees also must call a telephone number (often resulting in a long-distance charge) and login to a web page where they must enter a username and password.

Personally, I have attended several online seminars and found them to be a “royal pain.” One online training seminar I attended took 3 attempts before I could login. Then, I spent the next 15 minutes listening to the problems others were having logging in. At another seminar I hung up the phone after 5 minutes because the static was so bad my eardrums were hurting.

What does all this mean? I believe I am going to back off pursuing online training at this time. Instead, I am working on a way to reduce the overhead expenses for the seminars so I can offer them at a lower price to you. I am going to do everything in my power to reduce the cost to $150, which will make them affordable for more people. I was unable to do this in the past because the overhead costs were so tremendously high.

One way to immediately reduce the overhead costs and make the seminars affordable for everyone is to hold them in Grove City, Ohio (where I am located). I realize this will create travel expenses for many of you, but the lodging will only cost you $51 per night at the Microtel Inn in Grove City, Ohio. Also, if you book your airline reservation at least 1 month in advance, you can fly practically round trip anywhere in the U.S. for $150-$200.

So let’s add this up. $150 for the seminar, $150 for airfare, $50 for lodging= $350. That is LESS than what one 713Training.Com seminar cost in 2005, 2006 and 2007. I believe that is enough of a cost savings to warrant a trip to Grove City, Ohio for the best training you can find in preparing Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy petitions.

Therefore, I plan to hold 2 seminars per month beginning in January 2008, but before I make a commitment I need to locate other low-cost meeting places. Watch your email for updates. I hope one day to meet you in person at a 713Training.Com seminar and that you can obtain the training you need to succeed in the field of bankruptcy.

ONE LAST NOTE

Today, October 27, 2007, marked my 19th year owning my own business. I started a company by the name of Networking Exchange on October 27, 1988. I cannot believe it has been that long. Boy, time flies when you are having fun.

Have a wonderful week.

Update from Victoria Ring – Oct 21, 2007

Hi Everyone

I just drove back from Edinboro, Pennsylvania this weekend where I completed the set-up of Greg Krautter’s new franchise. Greg and his wife Susan are great people. We ate dinner at a pizza restaurant in Erie called Barbato’s Italian Restaurant. When I am out of town, I always try to eat at restaurants that we don’t have in Columbus, Ohio and Barbato’s was one of them.

The 400+ mile trip back and forth from Edinboro, gave me a time to develop ideas in my mind for ways to build the virtual bankruptcy assistant field. Because of the tremendous success Greg and I both had in building his franchise, I thought it would be an excellent template for developing virtual bankruptcy assistant businesses for others.

As soon as I arrived home from Edinboro, I didn’t even unpack. I immediately started the development of the 713Training.Com’s Apprentice Program so I could put all the ideas in my head on paper. The Apprentice Program will work in the same manner used in Greg’s franchise development. The only difference, instead of building franchise operations where people can sell the 713Training.Com training products – I will develop them a fully operational business from the ground up. The more successful virtual bankruptcy assistant businesses that are operational, the more successful for the growth of the industry, but I will have to limit the number of Apprentice’s to four (4) per year.

If you did not receive an announcement about the Apprentice Program, visit: http://www.713training.com/vabusiness/index.html

Don’t Be Alarmed if Greg Answers the Company Phone

One of the jobs that Greg Krautter will be responsible for is answering the 713Training.Com customer line. He has been chosen for this job because he wants to learn more about the customers and their wants and needs.

So, if you call the office on October 22, or thereafter, do not be alarmed if Greg answers the phone instead of Angie Boyd (who most of you are used to talking to.) However, Angie has not gone anywhere. She is busy building her own business and is still available if you need to speak with her.

Please note the following phone numbers for direct contacts:

Angie Boyd – 614-208-8168
713Training.Com Office – 614-875-4496
Greg Krautter’s Shipping Office – 814-734-4539

Update on Visit from Michael Misenheimer

On October 5, 2007, I had a welcome visit from Michael Misenheimer. He flew to Columbus, Ohio from Atlanta, Georgia to discuss some business matters. I have known Michael since he first entered college in 2001. I also trained him in the preparation of his first Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition.

Since 2001, Michael has been busy working on his career. He has been so successful that he was recently chosen as the Pro Bono Board Member for the Georgia Association of Paralegals (GAP).

On the GAP website at http://www.gaparalegal.org/bodbios.html, Michael’s bio reads:

Michael Misenheimer holds a paralegal certificate as well as a B.A. in Psychology. Michael began his paralegal career working for a solo practitioner whose specialty was consumer bankruptcy. Upon leaving the consumer bankruptcy firm, he went to work for a Chapter 7 Trustee. In 2003, he joined Kenney, Solomon & Medina, where he was a paralegal focusing in creditors’ rights issues in Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee. In 2005, he joined the firm of Sicay-Perrow, Knighten, Bohan & Iqal, P.C. returning to the creditors’ rights arena, including consumer bankruptcy litigation, foreclosures and suits.

Why am I telling you all this? Because Michael and I are working to put several 2008 seminars together in Atlanta, Georgia. On top of that, we are co-writing a new book which will be entitled: Misenheimer and Ring’s Quick and Easy Paralegal Desk Reference. I will tell you more about it later as the book develops.

The Chapter 13 Training Seminar

This week I will be concentrating on putting the final touches on the Chapter 13 Training Seminar to be held October 27, 2007. Terry McNeal, an attendee at the seminar as well as a Board Member of the new NAVBA organization, will be meeting with me so we can discuss plans for the NAVBA and I will report on our progress in the next Memo to Members.

Update on NAVBA.ORG Website

I have now finished all the customization (from my end) for the NAVBA website. Now, MemberClicks is going through the site and fixing all the internal workings so the website operates efficiently. As soon as MemberClicks has completed their set-up, I will announce it to the NAVBA members and transfer all the Bankruptcy Club members to the database.

Have a great week. I hope some of you consider the Apprentice Program because it is well worth the investment. I wish it would have been available when I first started my company in 1988; but it is available for you.

Greg Krautter of Edinboro, Pennsylvania is the first franchise owner of 713Training.Com, LLC. Greg has worked in the field of marketing and servicing clients for over 20 years and has received on-site and off-site training by Victoria Ring, the owner of 713Training.Com in the operation of his franchise. Greg will officially open for business on Monday, October 22, 2007.

Greg’s beginning responsibilities will be (1) answering the company line; (2) answering email inquiries; and (3) receiving and process orders for the 713Training.Com line of books, ebooks and training CDs. As he learns the business, more responsibilities will be added to his duties, but at this time, Greg will continue to receive off-site support directly from Victoria Ring in building his business income.

This was the first time Victoria Ring had sold a franchise operation for her products. NEW PRODUCT: Business Identity Kit for Virtual Assistants

Creating an effective business identity must be a top priority to any business owner. How your business is perceived is very important to your success. However, many first-time entrepreneurs make the mistake of creating home-made marketing materials even though they have no experience in design or desktop publishing. This makes your new company look like a new company, which can cause a potential client not to trust your area of expertise.

But if you have professional marketing materials from the start-up, potential clients will perceive you as an established company who is serious about their services. So where do you find marketing materials like this when you have no knowledge of marketing? What about a website? Dianna Giguere has now solved those problems.

Dianna Giguere, an eight-year veteran to the virtual assistant industry has put together a Business Identity Kit customized for virtual assistants. You will find that having your marketing materials developed by someone like Dianna, with experience and knowledge of the field, will give you marketing materials that will appeal to your target audience and help you build your new company more successfully.

There are three different Business Identity packages that Dianna’s company offers. Choose the one that is best for you:

Platinum Package (The Best Deal)
Includes: Everything in the Silver and Gold Package plus a 5-page website. You furnish the copy and it is professionally designed into your website.

PLUS – if you use South Sound Lane’s web hosting they will add the following free bonuses to the Platinum Package order: Free domain registration, 1 year free web hosting, a $50 Yahoo credit (while supplies last), a $25 Google Adword credit (while supplies last), and up to 25 different email accounts as well as a personalized email signature.

How to Start a Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant Service

Step-by-step information of how Angie Boyd started BankruptcyPlus.Com with no previous legal experience.

Step 1: Develop The Skill First

Before Angie Boyd decided on a company name or built a website, she started learning how to draft bankruptcy petitions. She studied 713Training.Com’s training videos and read the book: How to Start a Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant Service. Next, she practiced with the workbook: The Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant Training Workbook. (All of these materials are available at http://www.713training.com/)

Next, Victoria Ring sat down with Angie and gave her an actual bankruptcy petition to input. As Angie keyed in the information, Victoria trained her as she progressed through the Forms and Schedules. As Angie worked through the petition, she prepared a list of questions to ask the client (which Victoria explains how to do in the Bankruptcy Workbook). Then Angie called the client, obtained the missing information and finalized the bankruptcy petition.

Next, Victoria checked everything over with a fine-tooth-comb, made a few changes and explained to Angie why these changes were made. This helped her to understand the logic of the business and after only one training session, Victoria felt she was ready to try drafting a petition on her own.

Note: This is the reason 713Training.Com offers one-on-one training at their Columbus, Ohio training center or via web conferencing. It worked for Angie and it works for others too.

So, the next bankruptcy petition Angie drafted was at her own home office. When Victoria asked her how the first petition went, she said:

I ran into a few problems doing the petition on my own the first time, but instead of calling Victoria to get the answer I popped in her training videos and watched them. I was glad I did, because when I was watching the training videos to get the answer to my question, I learned more stuff I didn’t pick up when I watched them for the first time. This is probably the single most-important training method that worked for me. I made it a point to search for my answer before calling Victoria, and in the process I learned so much more.

After Angie drafted three bankruptcy petitions on her own, she had reached a point that she felt more comfortable with them. That is when she decided to open her business. (Notice that Angie learned the job before starting the company. This is a very important key element in building a business. You MUST know how to properly perform your service before you can sell the service.)

Step 2: Deciding on a Name and Building a Website

Before building a website, Angie had to find a domain name that would match her business name. She went to http://www.dnwiz.com and typed in the key words: “bankruptcy” and “service.” After paging through a long list of available domain names she found the perfect name: BankruptcyPlus.Com.

Next, Angie went to Bummer Hosting at http://www.bummerhosting.com and registered for the domain name (Cost $9.95) as well as basic hosting service (Cost $12.95).

Next, Victoria assisted Angie by going to http://www.basictemplates.com/ and checked out some web page design ideas. Victoria took a variety of layout and design ideas from these samples and designed the front page of Angie’s website which you can view at http://www.bankruptcyplus.com/ The software Victoria used to design the website was Netscape 4.7 which can be downloaded free of charge at http://browser.netscape.com/downloads/archive/

Next, Victoria personalized Angie a set of Client Intake Forms (you can get a set at http://www.713training.com/intake_forms/ ) and linked them to her website. The personalized forms are very important to have because attorneys interested in your service will download and use them. Because the personalized forms have your name and contact information at the bottom of every page, it will make it very convenient for the attorneys to fax or mail the forms to you for processing.

Then, a few days later, Victoria Ring had the opportunity to conduct a REAL client intake interview for the bankruptcy attorney she was working with. She took Angie with her to train her in this area of the virtual bankruptcy assistant field. Victoria also took Angie with her to a 341 Meeting with the attorney about 1 month later, which gave Ange even more exposure to the bankruptcy process from the Bankruptcy Courts’ point of view.

Summary

As you can see, it is very easy to start a virtual bankruptcy assistant service. But this is only the beginning. Now the hard work begins. But, hopefully this article will inspire you to start your own virtual bankruptcy assist business that YOU control so that YOU make money based on your hard work and dedication – not because you are friends with the boss.

The PayPal Email Scam

Have you been receiving emails that ask you to login to your PayPal account to verify your payment, or to pay your invoice? I get them every once and awhile but I immediately delete them because I have NEVER had a PayPal account. But Kent Nittinger at Bummer Hosting sent me the notice below to publish in order to protect our readers and expose the scam:

Hi Victoria,

Have you read about how spammers are requesting information from people who own PayPal accounts? This goes along with what you and I were talking about the other day over the phone. Spammers do this with your bank, hosting, and all other computer services. That is why Bummer Hosting takes such a hard stance on protecting our customers from spam and viruses. It is for our clients’ protection. Please inform your readers.

Keep Informed: Article Link About Email Spammers:

For those of you still shopping around for one of the best hosting companies on the planet, I personally recommend our host: Bummer Hosting. Chapter 13 Plan Training – Oct 27, 2007

ONLY 23 DAYS LEFT TO SIGN UP FOR THE CHAPTER 13 PLAN TRAINING SEMINAR
Seating is Limited to 10 People

http://www.713training.com/shop/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=70

Here is an outline of the October 27, 2007 activities:

1. When you arrive in Columbus on October 26, you will call Angie Boyd on her cell phone and either I or Angie will pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel.

We encourage attendees to stay at The Hampton Inn in Grove City, Ohio. This hotel is almost within walking distance of the seminar location. You do not need to make reservations. When Angie or I take you to the hotel, we can use our discounts, bringing the price down to only $79 per night.

2. The next morning, both Angie and I will pick you up at your hotel and the group will eat a healthy and hearty breakfast at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant. If you are not familiar with this restaurant, check out their website at http://www.crackerbarrel.com/ The food is fantastic!!

3. Next, we will all drive about one-quarter of a mile down the street to the meeting room at Donates Restaurant. I chose this restaurant because we will not need to leave the restaurant for lunch, plus we will have a secluded and private area for the seminar.

4. Because we are limiting attendance to the Chapter 13 Plan training seminar to only 10 people, both Angie and I will have the ability to personally train and work with you. If you have a laptop computer, bring it with you. This way, Angie or Victoria can sit with you and personalize the training to meet your specific needs. No seminar offers this type of personalized attention which is why the 713Training.Com training seminars are different from anything else out there.

5. At lunchtime we won’t have to go anywhere. The restaurant will supply us with pizza, calzones, a variety of sub sandwiches and salads, as well as Pepsi products and water beverages. The cost of the food is included in your seminar price, so there is no out-of-pocket expense. The only decision you need to make is what you want to eat for lunch.

6. After lunch Angie and I will continue with the Chapter 13 Plan training. If there is time, we will cover some additional training in marketing, or whatever topic the group wants additional training on.

7. When the seminar is over, you will return to your hotel. Angie and I will make arrangements to ensure you get back to the airport in time for your departure.

I believe you will agree, that this seminar is well worth the $289 to attend. For those of you who already have knowledge of preparing Chapter 7 bankruptcy petitions, this Chapter 13 Plan training seminar will be the “icing on the cake” for you. By receiving personalized training in the Chapter 13 Plan, you can add $100s of dollars to your current flat-rate Chapter 7 fee and have a skill that most paralegals do not have.

Of course you will receive a Certificate for this training course. Show this Certificate to your attorneys and it will help to “get your foot in the door.”
